The RSA has Accounced that a new Plastic credit card style Driving Licence will be introduced in January 2013. This will replace the old paper Driving Licence. It is hoped the new Driving Licence will be easier to carry and so will be kept on a person with other credit cards and be less likely to get lost. It is also hoped that the new Driving Licence will be readily available to Gardai at check points. The new Driving Licence will bring the Irish Driving Licence more in line with the European standard Style Driving Licence.
